New games Pokémon Winds & Pokémon Waves announced!

A new Pokémon Presents has just aired, announcing a brand new pair of Pokémon games - Pokémon Winds & Pokémon Waves! They will be released next year, 2027, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. The new region appears to be made up of several islands; the official site describes an open world to explore, with beautiful windswept islands and a vast ocean with glittering waves that ebb and flow.

The three First Partner Pokémon were briefly introduced in the trailer:

Browt, the Bean Chick Pokémon - Grass type
Pombon, the Puppy Pokémon - Fire type
Gecqua, the Water Gecko Pokémon - Water type

Also in the Pokémon Presents, Mega Garchomp Z was officially revealed. Trailer and screenshots below.

This coming Friday, February 27th, will be Pokémon Day! This is the annual celebration that marks the original release of Pokémon Red & Green in Japan. There will be a Pokémon Presents with news about upcoming games, believed to include details of the next generation of Pokémon games!

The Pokémon Company have also announced that the Game Boy Advance games, Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen, will be released on the Nintendo Switch following the Pokémon Presents.

Alpha Charizard distribution announced in DLC launch trailer

Mega Lucario Z revealed for Legends: Z-A DLC

A new trailer has dropped and it reveals an additional Mega Evolution for Lucario: Mega Lucario Z. It will be available in the Mega Dimensions DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Here is the trailer:

Mega Lucario Z remains Fighting/Steel type. This form is listed as a Z Mega Evolution, which need less time to fire off moves but burn through Mega Power very quickly.

Also announced is a Side Mission to obtain Mewtwo and its Mega stones. It's available from the Link Play menu > Mystery Gift > Get via internet.

Mega Zeraora revealed

A new trailer for the Legends: Z-A DLC has been released and reveals a new Mega Evolution: Mega Zeraora. It remains Electric type.

Description from official info: Zeraora has incredibly high aptitude to begin with, but typically it has an internal limiter that works to contain the electric energy stored within its body. It’s thought that Mega Evolution removes this limiter.

It's stated that getting Mega Zeraora might be a little difficult, so it may be a more involved quest during the DLC rather than a simple Mystery Gift.

Mega Chimecho & Mega Baxcalibur revealed in new trailers for Mega Dimension DLC

Three new trailers have been released for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The first two deal with the paid DLC, which is announced to be releasing on December 10th. During this DLC, Hoopa opens up portals to Hyperspace Lumiose, a parallel world in which different Pokémon can be found, including several from newer games like Scarlet/Violet.

There are also new Mega Evolutions. Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y were seen previously, and this trailer also reveals Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur. Continue below for the trailer videos.

Mega Evolutions for Raichu and the original Kalos starters announced

The latest Nintendo Direct has aired and revealed five new Mega Evolutions for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The first three are of the original Kalos starters from Pokémon X&Y - Chesnaught, Delphox and Greninja. These are not the First Partner Pokémon in Legends: Z-A but can be caught during gameplay. Their Mega Stones are obtained from Ranked Battles. Here is the trailer:

Also revealed was Mega Dimension - a paid DLC rather than being in the base game. The story appears to be based around the mythical Pokémon, Hoopa. During this DLC two new Mega Evolutions will be available - Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. Images below.

New game Pokémon Pokopia revealed in Nintendo Direct

The latest Nintendo Direct has aired and revealed a new spin-off Pokémon game - Pokémon Pokopia. In this game you play as a Ditto who's taken the form of a human. As you encounter Pokémon you can learn new techniques and build the world around you.

Mega Malamar revealed in "news report"

A new trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A has been released, this time taking the form of a news report with social media clips. In the report a woman admits to using Malamar to hypnotize people into loving it. At the end it's revealed she does this using a new mega evolution for Malamar.

Mega Malamar remains Dark/Psychic type, and the mega evolution process apparently further enhances the effects of its powerful hypnosis. Full trailer below.

Mega Hawlucha revealed in new trailer

A new trailer has dropped, which reveals a new Mega Evolution: Mega Hawlucha! It takes the form of a wrestling match against Machamp, who starts with the upper hand, but then Hawlucha Mega-Evolves and wins the battle.

Mega Hawlucha remains Fighting/Flying type and increases in size slightly.

Mega Victreebel revealed in spooky trailer

A new Mega Evolution of Victreebel has been revealed in a new trailer. The video takes the form of found footage with two people exploring an old spooky house. At the end a third trainer is trying to control their Victreebel which has Mega-Evolved.

Official description: The volume of this Pokémon’s acid has increased due to Mega Evolution, filling its mouth. If it’s not careful, the acid will overflow and spill out.

Z-A Battle Club revealed at Pokémon World Championships

At the closing ceremony of the Pokémon World Championships this weekend, an update on Pokémon Legends: Z-A was announced. In Link Battles and Ranked Battles, Z-A Battle Club has up to four players battle in a melee, and the trainer who defeats the most Pokémon, and acquires the most points, wins.

Pokémon Presents reveals Mega Dragonite and other features

A new Pokémon Presents has just aired, with many news snippets as well as a new game announcement and futher news on the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which will be released October 16, 2025. The biggest news was the reveal of Mega Dragonite!

During the story of LZA, you will join Team MZ who protect Lumiose. As revealed previously there is a tournament Z-A Royale that takes place at night, and there appears to be an evil team called the Rust Syndicate. As in the original X/Y games there is a big fashion focus and trainers can change their hairstyle and clothing.

Like Legends: Arceus, there are many side quests where you can help out other characters around the city, and do research on Pokémon. Another strand is Rogue Mega Evolution, where wild Pokémon have been Mega-Evolving on their own and you must quell them. Among them is Mega Dragonite, which takes on features of Dragonair such as its small wings and pearl on its tail.

Z-A Royale tournament revealed for Legends: Z-A

A Nintendo Direct has aired and featured some Pokémon news. After a short recap of earlier info, it's revealed that at night trainers come out to battle in a tournament called the Z-A Royale.

In special zones, similar to wild zones but marked in red, if a trainer sees you they will challenge you to battle. You can also sneak up on a trainer or their Pokémon, similar to taking wild Pokémon by surprise in Legends: Arceus. In the tournament, trainers start at rank Z and work up to rank A.

A new Pokémon Presents has aired today - Pokémon Day - and revealed more about the upcoming game Pokémon Legends Z-A, as well as a new battle-focused game. The full presentation can be seen below:

After a little bit of Pokemon history and some brief trailers on mobile games, a new game was announced: Pokemon Champions. It will be available on the Nintendo Switch as well as mobile devices, and focuses on core-style battles. It will also connect to Pokemon Home.

Finally, we learned more about Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Generation 8 Pokémon and Dynamax coming to Pokémon GO

Niantic have announced a large update to Pokémon GO, bringing the release of Generation 8 along with the Dynamax feature from Pokémon Sword & Shield. It will start September 3rd with the season, titled Max Out.

New Pokémon will be released in the wild: Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble, Dreepy, and Stonjourner (UK only). Morpeko was also announced previously but it's not clear when it will be released. It will bring a change to battles, with it being able to change form like the main series games. With the new event starting on the 3rd, Skwovet and Wooloo (which were released a while back) will also appear and can be shiny.

Niantic decided to release very little information about how Dynamax will work in GO. But so far we know that from September 10th, mysterious Power Spots will appear in which players can battle Dynamax Pokémon. A new substance Max Particles can be collected at Power Spots to take them on.

Only Pokémon caught from Max Battles can be Dynamaxed. Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet, Wooloo will be the first battles available.

Pokémon Presents reveals new game, Pokémon Legends Z-A

A new Pokémon Presents has finished airing and revealed a new game: Pokémon Legends Z-A. It will be set in Kalos and feature Mega Evolution in some way. Presumably it will focus on Zygarde, the third legendary of the X&Y games.

New Mythical Pokémon Pecharunt officially revealed

A new trailer has been released by The Pokémon Company, which officially announces the mythical Pokémon, Pecharunt. It's Poison/Ghost and has a new ability Poison Puppeteer which causes poisoned Pokémon to also become confused.

Pecharunt is available during the epilogue of the Scarlet/Violet expansion pass. An additional video telling the story of Pecharunt's history was also released, see below.

Epilogue for the Scarlet/Violet DLC announced

An update for Pokémon Scarlet/Violet has been announced, which will include an epilogue to the SV Expansion Pass, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. A short video has been released, which hints at a new mythical Pokémon.

The epilogue will be available from January 11th, 2024.

The Indigo Disk DLC for Scarlet/Violet has been released!

The second part of the Scarlet/Violet Expansion Pass, known as The Indigo Disk in now available! In this part the player takes a new school trip to the Blueberry Academy, located on an island near the region of Unova. Inside the Terarium are four artificial biomes that house many wild Pokémon.

We are busy updating the site with all the new details so stay tuned! We have some details up for the new Pokémon, which you can find via the links on The Blueberry Pokedex (which contains spoilers, of course).

Final trailer for The Indigo Disk released

A new trailer has been released for The Indigo Disk, part 2 of the Scarlet/Violet DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. The new DLC will be released on December 14th.

The Indigo Disk takes the player to Blueberry Academy, an artificial island near the Unova region. Various quests can be undertaken, and many legendary Pokémon from past games can be found. Trainers from Paldea also make a reappearance in the battle arena.

The Teal Mask DLC for Scarlet/Violet has been released!

The latest update to Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, an expansion pass known as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero has been released today. This first part, The Teal Mask, consists of a school trip to a new land, Kitakami. Of course, we are busy playing and cataloguing all the data for new Pokémon, moves, abilities, items and so on.

New Pokémon Poltchageist revealed in new teaser

A new Pokémon video has been released, which tells an ancient tale of a newly-discovered Pokémon, Poltchageist. Here is the video:

Poltchageist is Grass/Ghost type and bears many similarities to Polteageist from Generation 8. UPDATE: a second trailer, showing Poltchageist in action has been released, see below.

New trailer at World VGC reveals new moves and Paradox types

A new trailer has been shown at the Pokémon Video Game World Championships in Yokohama, Japan. As is typical, they showed off some competitive elements by detailing new moves coming to the DLC. The typings of Raging Bolt and Iron Crown were also revealed as Electric/Dragon and Steel/Psychic respectively.

Also shown were the starter Pokémon from all previous generations, which will be available in part 2, The Indigo Disk. The new moves shown were:

Psychic Noise - deals damage and prevents target from healing.
Upper Hand - strikes before a target's priority move.
Thunderclap - strikes before a target's move and was used by Raging Bolt.
Tachyon Cutter - hits twice in a row and was used by Iron Crown.

At the end of the video all the type icons used in Terastal come together on a crown to make a 19th Tera Type. Exact details on how it works have not been revealed.

Pokémon Presents reveals Dipplin, Archaludon and more for Scarlet/Violet DLC

A new Pokémon Presents has just finished airing and announced new features for various Pokémon games, including the DLC for Scarlet/Violet, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. The first part, The Teal Mask will be released on September 13th, 2023. The trailer for SV is below, or watch the full Pokémon Presents here.

Four new Pokémon were revealed:

Dipplin, an evolution of Applin, which will be available in part 1. It has a new ability, Supersweet Syrup and a new move, Syrup Bomb.
Archaludon, an evolution of Duraludon, which will be available in part 2. It has a new move, Electro Shot.
Raging Bolt, a Paradox Pokémon based on Raikou.
Iron Crown, a Paradox Pokémon based on Cobalion.
Also, the Pokémon shown in a previous trailer was revealed to be the Normal Form of Terapagos, with the original being its Terastal Form.

A Tera raid event for Mewtwo was also announced. Players can get a Mew in the game right now by using the Mystery Gift code GETY0URMEW.

New trailer for Scarlet/Violet DLC

A new trailer has been released for the Pokémon Scarlet/Violet expansion, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. Not much new information is given, however we do see Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti natively in-game.

The first part, The Teal Mask introduces us to two trainers Carmine and Kieran in the new region of Kitakami. There is a Festival of Masks going on. The second part, The Indigo Disk, sees you visit Blueberry Academy, which appears to feature a large battle arena known as a Terarium.

New mystery Pokémon discovered for Scarlet/Violet DLC

A new Pokémon has been revealed for the upcoming Scarlet/Violet DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero:

Very little information has been revealed but it appears to be related to Terapagos (perhaps an alternate form or pre-evolution). The official site states:

This Pokémon is small in stature and not particularly strong, but when push comes to shove, it can crystallize the energy in its body to form a protective shield. Apparently, it can also assume a dormant state when it feels that its life is in danger by pulling its head, limbs, and tail into its shell and making itself look like a jewel.

Pokémon Presents reveals DLC for Pokémon Scarlet/Violet and more

A new Pokémon Presents has just finished airing and revealed multiple new items. The biggest news was a new DLC update for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Named The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, it comes in two parts:

The Teal Mask, to be released autumn this year. In this part you visit a new land, Kitakami, on a school trip
The Indigo Disk, to be released in winter this year. In this part you study as an exchange student at Blueberry Academy.

Over 230 Pokémon from past generations will be available to catch in these new regions, or brought in via Pokémon Home. Several new Pokémon were also announced:

Walking Wake, a Water/Dragon type Paradox Pokémon that looks like Suicune. It will be available very shortly.
Iron Leaves, a Grass/Psychic type Paradox Pokémon that looks like Virizion. It will be available very shortly.
Okidogi, a large green canine Pokémon.
Munkidori, a blue ape-like Pokémon.
Fezandipiti, a large pink/red bird Pokémon.
Ogerpon, a legendary Pokémon available in Part 1.
Terapagos, a legendary Pokémon available in Part 2.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet released!

The newest games in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet are starting to be released around the world! As usual we are busy cataloguing all the new information for the games such as new Pokémon, moves, abilities and locations.

The home page and top-level Scarlet/Violet page will not contain spoilers, and the new Pokémon will not be shown on pages such as the National Pokédex for two weeks. However, following links from the SV section will show the new information. Also on PokéBase there is a button on the right hand side to hide questions tagged scarlet-violet.

New trailer hints at mysterious Pokemon from legends

A new trailer has been released for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. For the most part it recaps things we've already seen to the tune of Ed Sheeran's Celestial (which is part of the soundtrack to the game), but near the end some brief shots of new Pokémon are seen. They bear a resemblance to Donphan, and according to the press release are known as Great Tusk and Iron Treads.

The two Pokémon are exclusive to Scarlet & Violet respectively, and are part of the Scarlet Book / Violet Book which are ancient tomes written about an expedition in the past.

New Pokémon Gimmighoul revealed

Following on from yesterday's addition to Pokémon GO, today a new trailer was released which confirms the Pokémon to be Gimmighoul. It is Ghost type and has two forms - Roaming Form, which is the one appearing in GO - and Chest Form, where it tries to get people to give it coins.

The Pokémon GO website also added an update, confirming that linking Scarlet/Violet with GO will allow catching the Roaming Form in GO, which can then be transferred (via HOME) to SV.

New coin Pokémon released via Pokémon GO

A new Pokémon has surfaced, following Dratini Community Day in Pokémon GO (which runs from 2-5pm on Saturday 5th). Yesterday its model was found in GO data and leaked by PokeMiners on Twitter.

At 5pm, this creature begins following the player around the map, however, it is not catchable (and may not be a real Pokémon, in the vein of Zygarde cells). Several PokéStops turn gold and many items can be acquired from them, including a ?????? Coin which is apparently from the Paldea region.

UPDATE: a new website chest.pokemon.com was unveiled by the Pokémon Twitter account. It has a treasure chest which updates periodically. As I discovered, it's set to update at specific intervals, concluding at 24 hours and 999 coins (1pm GMT/6am PT), with something else happening an hour later at 2pm GMT/7am PT - possibly a new trailer!

Egg move overhaul, text list exporter and other site updates

It's been a while since I posted about any updates to the site but minor amendments are always being done, particularly for ongoing games like Pokémon GO. And over the past few months a few larger changes have been made.

The biggest is a complete overhaul of the egg move parents section. Previously we only had one page per Pokémon which showed the latest game, and omitted alternate forms which can have different egg moves. It worked well enough in the past as the details didn't change much across generations, but with recent games having limited Pokédexes (Pokédices?) it was becoming less and less helpful. So this content has now been expanded for each set of games and moved to the bottom of the moves by generation page, with tabs for alternate forms.

The second new page is a Pokémon text list generator. It's a simple tool to grab a plain text list of Pokémon. There are various options to show forms, types and base stats, or filter by generation/type. The output can be pasted into a spreadsheet or a text editor for further analysis/manipulation. New Pokémon Bellibolt revealed

A new electric frog Pokémon has been revealed. It was teased in a livestream two days ago, featuring Iono, the Electric type gym leader of Levincia, Paldea. In today's video the Pokémon was revealed as Bellibolt.
